Illegal Gambling Outfits in Guadalupe County Raided in Operation Blackjack

October 28th, 2013 by Site Admin

The law enforcement agencies of Guadalupe County cracked down on a number of illegal gambling outfits in an operation termed “Blackjack.” The deputies of the Sheriff’s office confiscated as many as 105 computer terminals, 52 eight-lines, and over $11,000. Five people employed at these illegal gambling outfits have also been arrested and charged with promotion of illegal gambling activities.

According to Arnold Zwicke, the sheriff of Guadalupe County, his deputies learned of these illegal gambling establishments when the local people began calling his office with questions. He said that members of various families filed complaints such as “Grandma is broke again because she spent her social security check on gambling.”

The sheriff’s office therefore quietly investigated the outfits and finally launched operation Blackjack, in which they raided all the outfits.

The sheriff’s office had already conducted one major raid on illegal gambling establishments last month. In September, deputies raided four illegal gambling establishments based in Seguin.

The sheriff’s office has also urged the public to help them in eliminating illegal gambling businesses in the county. Any citizen who knows anything about illegal gambling operations in the county is requested to contact the sheriff’s office by using the phone number (830) 379-1224.

Socializing at the Blackjack Table

October 25th, 2013 by Site Admin

Blackjack players are the quietest at casinos, perhaps because there is hardly time to socialize while playing a game of blackjack. But this doesn’t mean that there aren’t any blackjack players who love to chat as they play blackjack.

For instance, a blackjack player told the story of how he had hit 12 when he was playing blackjack the previous night from the third base when a fellow player yelled at him not to take the dealer’s bust card. Continuing his story into the next hand, he said that players simply cannot know which card can make the dealer bust and that he decided to hit in spite of the fellow player’s warning, which led to the fellow player picking his chips and leaving the table.

A female blackjack player told her fellow player the tale of her family’s gambling adventures. Stating that she learned playing blackjack in her childhood, she said that she never stopped playing the game, adding that she does it for entertainment, not winnings.

Another blackjack player told the story of how a boastful craps player ended up losing a lot of money at the craps table, but continued to bet till his girlfriend dragged him away.

Blackjack Player Faces Charges of Theft

October 22nd, 2013 by Site Admin

David A. Hayes, a blackjack player of Columbus who frequently plays at Hollywood Casino, thought that he was very lucky indeed when he won a large sum of $35,800 playing blackjack at the casino. But his luck did not last long as he was robbed of all his blackjack winnings by armed thieves who had followed him to his residence.

As if this were not enough, Hayes now faces a charge of theft. Reportedly, the blackjack strategy he used to win $35,800 did not have anything to do with the playing cards, but with some precious metals he stands accused of stealing.

The police got suspicious when they learned that Hayes was a jeweler by profession and had pawned gold worth $107,000. He had then used $99,000 of it to purchase casino chips, which helped him win at blackjack.

Hayes has also filed a case against the casino, accusing it of negligence and claiming that the redeeming counter clerk had not only ignored his request for a check, but had also help up his address to confirm it, thus making it visible to everybody present. The casino responded by saying that Hayes was robbed because of his own negligence and that the casino is not responsible for it.

Why Blackjack Beginners Should Play Single-hand Blackjack

October 16th, 2013 by Site Admin

Blackjack beginners can always use some tips and strategies to play a winning game of blackjack.

In the first place, casinos hardly offer single-deck blackjack games. Most of the blackjack games available at casinos are doubled-deck blackjack or shoe blackjack games. But playing a $25 single-deck blackjack game will turn out to be more profitable for players than playing a $15 double-deck blackjack game.

Blackjack beginners should also remember that the single-decked blackjack game played at land-based and online casinos is quite different. Online players playing single-deck blackjack will notice that the deck is shuffled after every hand. But this does not happen in land-based casinos, giving players the opportunity to memorize the deck and the value of the cards left in it.

Blackjack beginners usually do not know when to quit. If a player is consistently losing at blackjack, it is time to quit. Chasing losses usually makes players feel frustrated.

Though fun, blackjack can be very frustrating at time. The basic blackjack strategy is to enjoy the game as much as possible, play within one’s bankroll limits, and quit as soon as one has lost a pre-determined amount. Before playing for real money, beginners should practice for several hours in the free or fun mode.

Blackjack Pro Archie Karas Accused of Cheating

October 14th, 2013 by Site Admin

A Las Vegas court has announced that it will rule on Thursday whether a professional gambler should be sent back to San Diego, where he has been charged with cheating at the blackjack tables.

Anargyros Karabourniotis, a 62-year-old professional gambler who is widely acclaimed as Archie Karas, was arrested at his Las Vegas house and charged with cheating at the blackjack tables of Barona Casino, which is located in East San Diego. Allegedly, Karas has marked the cards, which helped him win over $8,000. Prosecutors of San Diego County have filed an extradition request on him.

Barona Casino’s surveillance video cameras allegedly caught Karas marking blackjack cards so that he could make out their value were being dealt.

Karas had once made $40 million playing pit, pool, and poker games over a period of three years, but lost it all by 1995. The Nevada Gaming Control Board arrested Karas four times between 1988 and 2007 for allegedly cheating at the blackjack tables of Nevada casinos.

According to Karl Bennison of the Nevada Gaming Control Board, Karas’s name could be included into the black book, which has a list of players banned from entering Nevada casinos, if he is found to be guilty in San Diego.

Global Gaming Expo, a convention that is currently taking place in Las Vegas, indicates that the future might see a major change in the way people play real money games and win jackpots. The event indicates that gambling and pop culture have united in a unique manner, as a result of which several new casino games based on rock stars such as ZZ Top, movies such as Avatar, and TV shows such as The Walking Dead are being rolled out. These new games, which were being introduced at the expo, will soon hit the casino floors in Las Vegas.

Even the way players will play blackjack will be revolutionized. For instance, if players win a game of blackjack, they will get a printed ticket, which they can take to a booth instead of taking their chips.

Playing Table Master Blackjack Games in Reno

September 30th, 2013 by Site Admin

Several casinos in Reno have blackjack machines with videos of attractive women as dealers. Called Table Master, these machines use videos of life-sized female dealers to create a live blackjack gaming experience. Table Masters are available not only for blackjack, but also for other casino games such as Royal Match 21, Let It Ride, Dragon Bonus Baccarat, and Three Card Poker.

All hands at a Table Master Blackjack game are dealt in a random manner. They are not pre-programmed to a specific return-to-player percentage as slot machines are. Instead, the return-to-player percentage depends on the blackjack players’ style of gaming, rules of the particular blackjack variant, and so on. Table Master Blackjack games in Reno are cheap, and there is a huge difference between the wagers of a live blackjack table and a Table Master Blackjack game.

Although the payouts of Table Master Blackjack and live blackjack are similar, the high speed with which Table Master Blackjack is played can have an adverse effect on players’ bankrolls. Smart players must play Table Master Blackjack as slowly as possible. Since the game is played against a machine, nobody can prevent players from going slow and taking their own time to make a decision.
