Two Online Poker Bills Introduced in California Near Deadline
March 1st, 2014 by Site Admin
Friday was the last day for California lawmakers to introduce new bills. Assemblyman Reggie Jones-Sawyer and the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians both unexpectedly introduced online poker bills on that deadline. This means that the state has a chance to legalize online poker this year.
The bill that was introduced by the San Manuel tribe will need a lawmaker to sponsor it. The bill is very similar to a bill that Senator Lou Correa introduced exactly one year earlier. Several experts in the gaming industry predict that Correa will sponsor the new bill as well.
Sawyer’s bill has gained the support of nearly ten different tribes throughout the state. His bill is probably more likely to pass, because it clearly wasn’t written in favor of a single tribe.
The State Assembly wrote a letter to the tribes to discuss the new bill. They said that the bill is very similar to a bill that was introduced last year. However, Sawyer said that he is committed to striking a compromise with the tribes. He said that he intentionally left some of the sections empty so that the tribes could continue to discuss the best solution. The bad actors clause is one of the sections that will be need to be expanded on in the future.
Sawyer’s bill sets a clear framework to regulate online poker. Online poker providers would need to pay $5 million to operate in California. Their nontransferable licenses would allow them to offer online poker for ten years. The new bill also calls for a special fund that would allow the state’s gaming regulators to shut down any sites that illegally offer online poker to California residents.

Speaker Says No Florida Gambling Bill without Compact Talks
February 14th, 2014 by Site Admin
Will Weatherford, the house speaker, said that the state gambling bill will not be successful until and unless it addresses the issue of expanding the games portfolio of the Seminole Tribe.
Weatherford further said that it is not possible to propose a gambling bill that does not have an impact on the state’s present compact with the Seminole Tribe. This compact includes a provision that permits the tribe to offer card and table games such as blackjack at the tribe’s properties, such as the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. This provision has to be renewed otherwise it will expire in 2015.
The compact guarantees that the state will receive minimum tax revenue of $1 billion from the tribe’s properties over a period of five years. But the tribe need not pay if it is not permitted to expand its gambling portfolio.
So far, no bill has been proposed, and Weatherford says that it is time to have a talk about the future of gambling in Florida. Rick Scott, the governor of Florida, has already said that the state’s lawmakers will take all the time required “to negotiate the best arrangement for Florida.”
The Seminole Tribe has said that it wants to continue with the present compact.
Wall Street Entrepreneur Talks about Playing Blackjack
February 10th, 2014 by Site Admin
A few hedge fund pioneers began life as successful blackjack players in Las Vegas casinos. The best of them are Blair Hull and Ed Thorp.
Playing blackjack is not for the faint hearted. Players require fearlessness, discipline, and skill in order to play a game of blackjack, especially when the casino’s video cameras are closely watching them.
One of those who made a fortune playing blackjack games in Las Vegas casinos was Josh Axelrad. He wrote about his experiences in a book titled “Repeat Until Rich: A Professional Card Counter’s Chronicle of the Blackjack Wars,” published by Penguin in 2010. Although not widely read, the book is a classic. Axelrad’s book is the story of an entrepreneur’s successful life, his spiritual journey, and guide to playing blackjack.
Axelrad got a degree from Columbia University, spent some time in Spain teaching English, and then returned to New York, where he got a temporary job as a receptionist. Inspired by an MIT friend, he joined a non-MIT blackjack group founded by a prestigious trader in Wall Street.
Speaking about his aggressive blackjack playing days, he said that they had a don’t-care attitude and kept introducing more players to the team so that they could beat the casinos better.

Play Blackjack Poker at Longhorn Casino
February 3rd, 2014 by Site Admin
In a report published in GamingToday.com, Mark Mayer has described a video poker game that combines the classic casino games of poker and blackjack. The game is available at Longhorn Casino, which is sandwiched between Trop and Flamingo.
The rules of the game are quite simple. The objective is to get a blackjack and a four-of-a-kind combination. If players get four aces, four deuces, four threes, four fours, or any four-of-a-kind combo with a blackjack, they will be paid quite well.
Needless to say, the biggest payout goes to the lucky player who gets Royal Flush, which is not really that easy to get.
According to Mayer, the game is quite entertaining, but it is not that easy to get a four-of-a-kind combination with a blackjack. He bet $20 on the game and was lucky enough to get three aces, three deuces, and three tens with a blackjack, but could not get that coveted combination of a blackjack with a four-of-a-kind combo.
Is the game worth playing again? Mayer says that he might play it again if he visits Longhorn Casino once again. He also says that Longhorn Casino is worth playing at because of its excellent food, available at affordable rates.
Hit & Stand Chart Helps Players Make Crucial Blackjack Decisions
January 30th, 2014 by Site Admin
A large number of TV shows, movies, CDs, and books have been produced on blackjack, indicating that the game enjoys a great deal of popularity in the online gambling community. In spite of this, most players are unaware of the basics of playing blackjack. They believe that blackjack is a game of luck and do not realize that strategy goes a long way in helping a player win at blackjack.
The blackjack player’s aim is to beat the dealer by creating a hand equaling 21 points, but without going bust. While the number cards are taken at face value, the picture cards are worth 10 points, and the ace can be worth either 11 points or 1 point depending on the player’s requirements.
A game of blackjack begins with a bet, after which players will be dealt two exposed cards while the dealer will get one exposed and one hole card. Players should now decide whether they should stand or hit. A Hit or Stand Chart not only helps players make this crucial decision, but also increases players’ win rate.
For instance, the Hit and Stand Chart advises players to stand on a soft 19 as this hand can only lose if the dealer gets blackjack.
