Blackjack Cheaters Using Grease Spots to Marks Cards Win $24,000 in 30 Minutes
October 20th, 2010 by Site Admin
The blackjack cheaters are at it again and a California casino recently reported one incident of cheating at its blackjack tables involving three people. The authorities managed to confiscate over $24,000 after the three co-conspirators were caught red handed on security camera. The incident occurred at the Turlock Poker Room when authorities noticed a blackjack player suddenly begin to win almost by magic after a long run of bad luck. It was later revealed after the security tapes were played back that the 71 year old Gabriel Urbieta Rodriguez had been working together with a card room supervisor and another accomplice to cheat at blackjack.
The three blackjack cheaters had been working together to mark the cards and managed to take in $24,000 within 30 minutes. Gabriel Urbieta Rodriguez had initially lost thousands of dollars while playing blackjack but after he began to cheat he won almost every one of his hands.
The dealer was suspicious and reported the incident; a check of the tapes revealed that a woman, Cha Say and Rodriguez worked together to mark several decks of cards with grease spots in different areas to indicate card values. Robert Younan, a card room supervisor also was involved in this and was responsible for seeing that it was these decks that were used repeatedly at the blackjack table where Gabriel Urbieta Rodriguez was playing.
Now all three cheaters face prison charges.
Cake Poker Network Introduces Tournament Blackjack
October 18th, 2010 by Site Admin
Blackjack is fast gaining popularity all over the world as both brick and mortar gaming establishments and online casinos are adding blackjack online games to their offerings. The Cake Poker Network is the latest company to follow this trend and recently announced the addition of tournament blackjack games to its game selection. Cake had to work together with 21GNET, a reputed software provider to make this tournament blackjack offering possible for players.
The Cake Poker Network added these tournament blackjack games to its software platform this week allowing players to access blackjack games on the network. For this purpose, 21GNET has created a dynamic tournament blackjack system for the Cake Poker Network, allowing the company to offer new games. Blackjack players will now be able to play their favorite game against other players in a tournament format. This game offers no house advantage and does not permit the dealer to compete.
“Having such a well executed game system running across the Cake Network is a fantastic addition for Cake Network players as well as providing our partners with the opportunity for an additional game option and revenue stream,” said Andrew Turner the marketing director for the Cake Network.
Now that the Cake Poker Network has hopped up on the blackjack bandwagon, it is reasonable to expect several more popular gaming establishments to also join this group.

Las Vegas Loses Blackjack Player Traffic from California
October 15th, 2010 by Site Admin
Las Vegas has earned itself the title of being the gaming centre of the United States and is known to attract hundreds of blackjack players from all over the country. However, current reports indicate that the blackjack and casino game traffic from Vegas’ border state of California has dwindled down to almost nothing after the region opened up casinos on the Native American land there.
Blackjack players from California who once used to make trips to Vegas to try their luck at the green tables there, now no longer have to do so, on account of the new casinos springing up in the state of California. All this began with the new gaming laws being issued which made it possible for players in California to gamble in their state rather than traveling all the way to Nevada to do it. Although California has always had casinos in the region, these gaming places were not allowed to host blackjack games until the new laws.
California now has quite a few existing casinos and upcoming gaming projects on Native American reservations located within the state. The state is now being cultivated with casinos, hotels and gambling complexes from San Diego to the San Francisco Bay Area.
Maryland Says No To Blackjack Games in Casinos
October 11th, 2010 by Site Admin
Unlike Pennsylvania, California and a few other US states which have opened their doors to casino games like blackjack and poker, the state of Maryland has chosen to reject blackjack in fear of becoming a casino state. Maryland has opened up several casinos in its regions after the new laws were introduced but has not allowed the gaming halls to feature serious card games like blackjack and poker. It has taken what is described as a “modern approach to gambling” allowing slots and smaller table games but vetoing blackjack.
Martin O’Malley, the Governor of Maryland approved this decision and said, “I don’t believe that people want our state to be a casino state. I believe they approved slots at five locations in order to keep some of those Maryland dollars in Maryland, and I think it’s the right approach for Maryland.”
Robert Ehrlich, the Former Governor of Maryland on the other hand, appears to be in favour of the card games of blackjack and hopes to see it in casinos.
The state allowed casinos to be opened in the region in an effort to provide employment opportunities and increase income. Martin O’Malley appears to e supporting these casinos according to the state’s request in 2008 to add to the region’s income. This proposal to introduce casinos in Maryland was agreed to by a vote.
Card Counters Officially Banned from Indiana Casinos
October 8th, 2010 by Site Admin
Indiana casinos now have the right by law to ban card counters during games. In 2006, gambler Thomas Donovan filed a lawsuit against the Grand Victoria Casino and Resort after he was banned for counting cards at the blackjack table. After the state appeals court reversed the decision, the case was passed to the Supreme Court.
Justice Frank Sullivan Jr. and the court ruled 3-1 in favor of the casinos. “It seems to us just as likely—if not more so—that discouraging card counting enhances a casino’s financial success,” stated the judge. The decision to ban card counters was also based on the idea that legalized gambling promotes tourism and the economy therefore, it is unjust that casinos should be cheated out of profit.
