North Carolina Hosts Unique Blackjack Themed Run
December 30th, 2012 by Site Admin
The Fletcher Community Park was recently host to one of the most unique runs in the history of the state of North Carolina, for it featured a run themed on the game of blackjack. This was no ordinary run which featured a few graphics or branding themed on the game of blackjack, instead it was a run and a blackjack game combined.
The game was a Blackjack 5K event and featured a run of Foot Rx Running; what must be noted is that the event was not a race but a run, as it would not be the fastest participant at the run who took home the blackjack prize money – but rather the runner with the hand of blackjack.
The Blackjack 5K run took place on the 15th of December at Fletcher Community Park, which is known to be a special place for walkers and runners. The event was hosted by Foot Rx Running, a company that is known to host fun races and such events throughout the year to promote its products and branding.
To participate in the event, runners paid $10 as an entry fee for each person. Participants were all given one playing card each soon after registration; then a second card was dealt to these players half way through the run. Players then only had to reach the finish line and had the option to stand or take a third card before completion.
What to Do When the Dealer Shows an Ace
December 27th, 2012 by Site Admin
A number of blackjack players choose to either purchase insurance or take even money whenever the dealer shows an ace. According to blackjack experts, both are not wise moves to make even f players have a blackjack. This is because the deck comprises 31 percent 10-point cards such as tens, queens, kings, and jacks, which means that the chances of the dealer not getting a blackjack are about 69%.
Players should also remember that if they have one card of value 10 and if they see a few other 10-point cards on the blackjack table, the chances are higher that the dealer does not have a blackjack. In this case, players must refrain from purchasing insurance or taking even money because they stand a better chance of getting a payout of 3 – 2.
If players get an 18-point card against a dealer’s face card, they had better pull out their bet. The strongest hands are the 20-point cards. For example, if players have two 10-point cards against a dealer’s face-up card, they are bound to make some money. About 70% of a player’s overall winnings at the blackjack table come from a pair of tens and a combination of ace and ten.
Play Slow If You Want To Win At Blackjack
December 23rd, 2012 by Site Admin
Blackjack players who want to win and beat the casino house edge will have to use all their skills and blackjack gaming strategies during game play. There are many tricks to winnings at blackjack but players must remember that there are some fixed and basic rules and tips that all blackjack players follow.
One of the key tips to playing blackjack is to play slow and give yourself time to decide on your next mood and figure out what move to make. This strategy will work for any type of blackjack game whether it is standard blackjack or some games with a twist.
A slow pace during a standard blackjack game which seats seven players is sure to help you keep your head clear. However, even when playing at a table with five or six players – it is possible to use this strategy although the game will move faster.
Players must keep an eye on the speed of the dealer and the speed of the players. Casinos in general prefer to have blackjack tables with fewer seats as this allows players to have many more hands of blackjack. Players who need time to play blackjack and do their mathematical calculations in their head would be advised to sit at seven and eight seat tables.
Wiggy’s blackjack Book Recommended as Christmas Gift
December 20th, 2012 by Site Admin
Blackjack players or friends and family members of blackjack enthusiasts who are wondering what to get them for Christmas may now find it easier to shop for presents this year thanks to reviewer John Grochowski.
According to Grochowski, one of the ideal presents for blackjack players this year is a book titled “1536 Free Waters and Other Blackjack Endeavors” by Glen Wiggy. He claimed that the book is both “informative and entertaining” and is simply just “fun to read.”
The book was highly recommended as a gift suggestion and may end up being under several blackjack player’s trees this year. “Glen Wiggy’s “1536 Free Waters and Other Blackjack Endeavors” ($18.95, iUniverse)…ranks high on my list of Christmas gift suggestions for gamblers. Subtitled “Finding Profit and Humor in Card-Counting,” Wiggy’s work includes how to play, blackjack terminology, basic strategy and an explanation of how to count cards.
The card-counting section includes some graphics that will be helpful to beginners, depicting full tables of cards along with the plus-1, minus-one and zero designations for keeping a running count,” said Grochowski.
What distinguishes this book form the others is that it is not merely instructional. “But while the route toward gaining an edge on the house is important to “1536 Free Waters,” the heart and soul are the stories of Wiggy’s more than 800 casino visits from 2001-2008,” added Grochowski.
Racing Commission Vetoes Electronic Blackjack Games
December 18th, 2012 by Site Admin
The blackjack community in Minnesota had been looking forward to the opportunity to being able to play blackjack games at the Running Aces Harness Park on account of the possibility of the race track hosting blackjack games.
The Running Aces Harness Park had petitioned the Minnesota Racing Commission concerning electronic blackjack games asking the authorities to grant them permission to offer electronic blackjack to gamblers. However, much to the disappointment of the Running Aces Harness Park, the Minnesota Racing Commission declined this suggestion.
According to Commissioner Jacqueline Duncanson, “I think everyone sitting here would like to approve this. We would like to have racino. We would like to be able to have our racetracks have more ways to generate money for larger purses. We would like to support this. But what I would like in life is not always what is right or what is legal.”
Some of the members of the Minnesota Racing Commission were in favor of the idea like Commissioner Kris Sundberg, who said, “We have to recognize that electronic everything is just our future and we’re way behind…Just approve it, as is … and let the chips fall where they may.”

The gambling industry and casino sector in Macau, China is thriving as the player market is strong and has great potential. What’s more, students in China have noticed that the gambling sector offers them great income opportunities and tend to look for jobs in casinos as blackjack dealers and floor managers.
At the Macau Polytechnic Institute, students attend classes on how to play casino games and win at blackjack and roulette. Students look to pick up tips on how to win at these casino games and get more money. The institute has a mock casino and a Gaming Teaching and Research Center that offers courses. Other students get into the industry by working at these venues because of the high income offered.
According to Marcos Wong, the supervisor of a VIP room at the Grand Lisboa Casino, “I have thought of another job, but the salaries at other jobs are lower than the casinos. Now I’ve become used to this lifestyle…We didn’t have a lot of money when I was growing up so of course I had to study more to try to change my destiny. But to change one’s destiny, the reality is you need a lot of money.”

Author Claims America Will Unite At The Blackjack Table
December 6th, 2012 by Site Admin
Glen Wiggy, a blackjack author, blogger and writer for the Huffington Post, believes that he has come up with the ideal solution for unity in America. After the campaigns and elections are over, the atmosphere of political hostility, debates and volley of questions and answers, there is a desire for harmony and to see things to settle down.
Wiggy is the author of 1536 Free Waters and Other Blackjack Endeavors–Finding Profit and Humor in Card-Counting. He believes that if politicians and those who shared different views were to sit down at a blackjack table together, that they would be able to resolve their differences. “Where else in America can you see an investment banker, tattooed biker, undergraduate fine arts major, Latin King’s gang member, Iraqi war veteran, kindergarten teacher, and elderly nun, all sitting at the same table? When the cards are right, these people will even high-five each other. That’s what our country needs now. Togetherness,” he stated.
Although highly unrealistic and not in the least bit practical, this little tidbit of blackjack humor does point to a need for harmony and a desire for unity among the people.
