Oaklawn to Start Offering Live Blackjack Games
August 5th, 2013 by Site Admin
Oaklawn will be offering live blackjack from July 22, Monday. Currently, a video screen is the only way players can view their cards.
Speaking about the development, Bobby Geiger, director (gaming and wagering) at Oaklawn, said that customers have been requesting live blackjack ever since the company launched table games, adding that Oaklawn staff has to invest plenty of time and efforts to make live blackjack a reality. He also said that Oaklawn is hiring and training croupiers for the same.
The cards will be dealt from a shoe with six decks of cards, after which an electronic eye will read them and enable players to place their bets via an electronic system. Stating that the system is very popular in Southland Gaming and Racing, West Memphis, Geiger said that he expects the games to get equally popular in Oaklawn too, which is why the race track is changing all the eight blackjack games it offers.
Oaklawn is also making plans to add over 50,000 square feet to its existing gambling area, and work on the same is expected to begin in May 2014. The move is expected to generate more job opportunities for residents.
