Blackjack Scenes in Hollywood Movies

Although Hollywood movies have shown a number of casino scenes, very few movies have actually shown blackjack tables. Movie makers tend to think that roulette and poker are the most popular games, familiar even to those who never visit casinos. Still, there are a few movies that show scenes related to blackjack.
The 1988 movie Rain Man, which stars Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise, shows the duo visiting the blackjack tables of a casino in Las Vegas. Hoffman is playing the role of an autistic person with exceptional mathematical skills, which his brother is trying to exploit. Hoffman is shown counting cards in the movie.
Almost all James Bond movies show a casino scene, although Bond generally prefers to play roulette or baccarat. However, in License to Kill, he actually plays blackjack in a casino belonging to Franz Sanchez.
Austin Powers is yet another movie that shows the chief character playing blackjack. While Bond was shown winning a large amount of money playing blackjack in License to Kill, Austin is shown losing a lot of money playing the game.
Watching blackjack movies, however, cannot reproduce the thrills of playing the game for real money either at online or land based casinos.
