Veterans Battle at Blackjack Tournament

Although poker is usually the casino game that is played for charity events and to create awareness, the Veterans of Foreign War (VFW) posts based in Missouri decided to host a blackjack battle at the Leach Theatre on the Missouri University of Science and Technology campus.
Several blackjack players from the area of the Veterans of Foreign War (VFW) posts participated in the event as the tourney hosted free admission and was held at Castleman Hall. Players were invited from all over the surrounding area including places like Lebanon, Rolla St. James and Sullivan and St. Robert.
The event was scheduled for the afternoon and saw five blackjack tables in the venue. There was $10,000 of blackjack chips that was made available for each player to use. The first round was a timed event and went on for 30 minutes. Players who qualified in this preliminary round were allowed to move on to the next round.
The second round commenced after a small break which saw the seven best players of the lot move ahead. The prizes for the main event included an electronic bingo machine worth $8,000, 51-inch plasma television. There were also a few other prizes for players as well.
