Maryland will soon be one of the US states offering casino games. This Friday, the first casino of Maryland received 1,500 slot machines and is now in the process of getting them installed for its launch in September 2010.
Perryville-based Hollywood Casino is expected to increase Maryland’s revenue by millions. The recently arrived slot machines will be connected to Maryland’s lottery system so that the money flows directly into the coffers of the state. Steve Schwartz, the gaming analyst, said that this will not only boost the economy of Maryland in a big way, but also open up a lot of job opportunities.
The casino plans to install video poker, roulette, electronic gaming tables, online blackjack, poker, and other classic casino games soon. So far, Maryland has approved only virtual gaming tables. Gaming enthusiasts hope that, with the arrival of many more casinos in the state, real blackjack tables will be offered.
Maryland has a long way to go before gaming enthusiasts can witness the arrival of blackjack tournaments. The state is also not ready to compete with Pennsylvania’s recently regulated gaming tables.
The people of Maryland, however, are excited about these developments, and the state is sure to witness a lot of casino gambling in future.
