Pennsylvania police have arrested two residents of Scranton for cheating at the Blackjack tables of Pocono Downs Casino at Mohegan Sun in Plains Township.
They arrested 56-year-old Tjandra M. Wijono of Gibson Street on Tuesday night and 32-year-old Le Rain of Moosic Street early Wednesday morning and charged them separately for the offense of fraud. They were allegedly “capping” bets or, in other words, adding chips to their wagers after getting a winning hand.
Wjono has been charged on four counts of fraud under Title 4 of the amusement section of the crime code of the state. Police sources state that video footage shows Wjono capping bets four times and collecting extra winnings.
Rain, on the other hand, was caught for deception. Police sources reveal that he had initially placed a $50 bet and then tried to add $500 to the original bet after getting blackjack.
State troopers employed in the casino’s gaming enforcement office arrested the two offenders, who were housed in the jail at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for the entire night. They were later released on unsecured bail of $5000, and will have to appear for a preliminary hearing before Judge Diana Malast on Aug 17.
