Pro Poker Player Banned From WSOP After Blackjack Card Counting

Professional Poker Player Joseph Stiers has been banned from all of Caesars Entertainment properties after he was accused of counting cards at a blackjack table last December, putting his career in jeopardy as he can no longer compete in the World Series of Poker tournament.
Stiers was playing at the Horseshoe Baltimore Casino last December when he won $350 playing Blackjack. Casino staff became suspicious of his activity, accusing Stiers of card counting and asking him to forfeit his winnings and leave the casino. The 630th ranked player in the world thought the matter was settled, but was escorted out of the Casino on December 27th during a poker tournament. Casino staff accused Stiers of trespassing, telling him that he was banned from the casino as well as other Caesars properties.
The move potentially could put a huge ding on the pro’s career, as he will be unable to participate in the 2015 World Series of Poker following the blacklisting. The WSOP is an annual poker tournament held each year on Caesars property, awarding millions in prizes for those who cash-in.
Commenting on the matter a Caesars representative said, “[Caesars allows] highly skilled players to gamble provided they don’t engage in any activity that violates applicable regulations, undermines the integrity of our games or unfairly disadvantages our other guests.”
